Character Information
Character Name: Koujirou Genda
Character Series: Inazuma Eleven
Character Age: 14
Character Gender: Male
Original CanonCanon Point: Episode 77, at the end of the match between Inazuma Japan and Neo Japan.
Background Link: here!Personality: When you first meet him, Genda comes off as stoic and proud. He holds himself tall next to his teammates, and always wears a very confident expression, no matter what they're about to face. He has every right to be this sure of himself though, of course - he's known in the soccer world as the King of Goalkeepers, and his skill on the field is renowned. He isn't overconfident, though, and his ego isn't as big as you would think. In fact, he can be rather modest, especially around people he doesn't know. His friends, however, know his skills - so he doesn't mind joking around with an ego around them. To go along with that, of course, his friends are important to him - new AND old. Even if he's not on the same team as Kidou, for example, Kidou is very important to him. While he wouldn't mind winning a match against him, he'd never wish harm upon him, and would be at his side whenever he's needed. That said, Genda
is extremely competitive, and he will never let friendships slow him down or let him lose, especially at the point I have taken him from. He is in a lot of pain because his friends were chosen to represent Japan in the Football Frontier Internationals, while he hadn't even been considered. He loves his friends, but that makes them his rivals, and he refuses to lose against them.
While he is extremely serious when the time calls for it, Genda is still a very friendly and sociable person. He jumps at the chance to help people out, no matter if he knows them or not, and loves making people smile or cheer up. He has a very tranquil air about him, and he doesn't let others' irritation ruin his good mood - even if it's him they're irritated with. This is changed a bit after training with Neo Japan, but not lost; rather, he simply takes his own good mood and uses it to push others forward, whether they stay angry or not - instead of simply leaving them to stew in their bad mood. He's the kind of person to constantly support his friends and his teammates, as well; using his strength to lift them up and push them forward; which makes sense, considering he's always been a goalkeeper, the strongest defense the team may ever have. When he
does get upset or lose, though, he won't let it shove him back. Sure, he may stagnate in place for a while - but he would never let himself take a step backwards, because that would put the training of him and his friends, as well as their belief in him, to waste. His strength is in brute force, too - he's always been the braun of the team rather than the brain, and because of that is better at following rather than leading, though he will lead if he must. But this just means he's strong enough to be leant against and shoulder the burdens of his friends.
Compared to most of the other characters in the serious, Genda can be considered thick or a bit dumb; he prefers to solve his problems through physical means rather than thinking about it. He's the "punch now, ask later" kind of person - and it can get him into trouble once in a while. He relies on his friends because of this, as they tend to be smarter than he is, and he's also very easily influenced and easy to lead around. Whoever seems to be the authority at the time is the person he'll answer to - It began with Kageyama, until Kidou defied him, and when Kidou left it was Sakuma, and when Sakuma left, he was found by Coach Hitomiko. If someone else proves to be the authority, he'll listen to them as well. It doesn't bother him of course, as it puts a lot of ease on his shoulders since he's never relied on to answer tough problems. Due to his belief in brute force and his latent thickness, Genda has a really bad case of tunnel vision - if he starts focusing on something, it's hard to get him back on track, and he tends to focus on something for a while. If he's fighting, for example, it won't matter to him who he's fighting - just that they need his strength, and that he needs to keep fighting. It's something his team relies on in a match, however - the instant he's on field, his tunnel vision switches on, and it becomes extremely difficult to break through his defense.
Abilities: He’s capable of using Hissatsu Techniques - special shots or blocks used in soccer - and there’s nothing saying they can’t use them off the field.
The ones he’s capable of using as of his canon part are, with descriptions:
Power ShieldHe strikes the ground with his fist, creating a shield of light to appear in front of him.
Full Power ShieldLeaping high into the air first, he strikes the ground with both fists, creating a highly powerful (and pretty close to nigh unbreakable) shield of light.
Beast FangA forbidden move that sacrifices his body to use, he cups both of his hands to form a jaw, which absorbs the hit of whatever he blocks - but using it more than three times can render him incapable of moving.
Drill Smasher V2A hissatsu that summons a giant drill to block powerful shots - it can be broken, but only by particularly strong shots, or if his focus is down.
True Infinite WallA combination move, he and two teammates summon a wall of stone that's almost unbreakable - again, it takes an extremely powerful shot to break through it.
Like other characters from the Inazuma universe, Genda is capable of making up new hissatsu techniques and adapting old ones to different situations, as well as learning the hissatsu techniques of other players.
